I would have layered the AMO on the HadCru in the “pre” CO2 days, which would then have shown a disconnect in the beginning of the 1975 warming. So my conclusion would have been that some other factor has come into PLAY, not dominance after 1975. The post-1975 pattern similarity would say that the other factor is linear.
Since I’ve already postulated for the Central UK that factor was sunshine hours ..
But I wouldn’t have made the above graph the way you did.
