41st Daily Record of Year for Antarctic Sea Ice Extent

September 9th (Day 252) saw the 41st Daily Record of the Year for Antarctic Sea Ice Extent. For a few days it looked like the growth was over, but the last 2 days have seen 74,000 sq km gains each day.

  1. Question, why does chospher show less then you do foe Antarctica and the arctic on their interactive sea ice charts.

You post some good sn interesting info.

    Thanks

    1. I use the Extent data from NSIDC. But some charts use Area, not extent.

And some have a different definition of ice concentration. And then some have different algorithms for detecting land versus water versus ice.

  2. I’ve noticed the NRL ice thickness model has been down for quite a few days now. Are you in the know what’s up with it?
